I was asked again to clean a friend of a friend’s car.

Now I’ve done his (the friend of a friend) car before so said yes.

Now his car is a green Ford Focus Mk2 RS. I wasn’t keen on initially but after spending a few hours with her, I grew to really appreciate her.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

But then I get pictures of a different car.

Apparently this is his new car.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

He wanted a new RS but the new one is out of his price range and the waiting list too long.

I’m going to miss that green RS.

But hey, we’ve all got to move on sometime.

I wish we had gotten that Focus here in the US instead of this thing

Kinja'd!!!

And this is a pic of the sorta cool SES trim. We didn’t even get a hatchback from 08-11.

The worst thing is they had the nerve to call those wheels “EURO” because they were meant to look like the RS wheels.

Really? Dear god.

I can just imagine the Ford meeting.

“okay we can’t get approval for the Mk2 Focus here in hatchback form so let’s make a completely different looking coupe car but give them wheels that look similar to what the Euroland people have, ye’, they’ll buy that”.

Ye’, you missed on the Mk2 and Mk2-facelift in hatchback and estate form.

Europe (LHD countries) got a saloon Mk2.

Kinja'd!!!

Sadly this was also the end of the three door Focus.

And the sad thing is, the real Euro Mk2 Focus would’ve sold better than that travesty we got :(

Seeing those cars, and the current Focus, it looks like a much more logical evolution. From 2000-2016.

IDK the boring American version, was probably right for the boring American market. Hell I almost bought one. It was a 2010 red, manual, SES, sedan. It was actually kinda nice, and decently peppy. The black leather interior, and black trim was what did it for me though. But still a hatchback would have been better.

It’s not exactly the same, but the Mazda3 of that era is on the same platform as the Mk2 Euro Focus and we got it in both hatch and sedan form. In essence we got the Mazdaspeed3 instead of the Euro Focus ST. Nothing like an RS, tho :(

Another weird thing, when you got the Second gen, we got a facelift that kiiiinda looked like it. Really only the headlights changed. this is what we got from 05-07. then the weird second gen we got from 08-11. Then finally the global Focus 2012.

Euroland LHD and Australia RHD got the Mk2 saloon above. We didn’t in the U.K.

In the U.K. saloons were more recently large cars only with smaller (compact) cars in five door and estate and small (mini) cars in three and five door with some estates.
